The 2024 Vermont Maple Conference promises to be one of the year’s most exciting and informative educational and networking events for sugar makers from every corner of our industry. Whether you’re at 30 taps or 30,000, if you’re interested in expanding your knowledge, sharing ideas, and networking with fellow sugar makers, don’t miss this opportunity. Our Conference is a partnership between VMSMA and UVM Ext.
- We'll kick off conference week with a full day Quality School with Mark Isselhardt, UVM Extension Maple Specialist, and Jason Lilley, Assistant Extension Professor, Sustainable Agriculture and Maple Industry Educator at University of Maine Cooperative Extension. This in-person event is limited to 20 participants and will take place at the UVM Extension office in Berlin.
- Next, we'll host three days of online sessions, Wednesday through Friday, December 10th - 13th. We'll cover topics from forestry and forest health, to food safety and best practices, to operational efficiency and climate resiliency (and much more!). These sessions will be recorded and available for viewing (with closed captioning) after the conference.
- We close out conference week with our popular in-person day on December 14th at Vermont State University (formerly the VTC).You'll have an opportunity to connect with other sugar makers, build relationships with trade show vendors, and learn more about the latest research and best practices from topics including climate resiliency, succession planning and more! We'll also have an option to meet one-on-one with Flavor Expert Henry Marckres for "maple confidential." Bring samples of your candy, syrup and sugar and get an expert opinion. We also do our best to record the group sessions and share them after the conference.
